Designing for Renewal and Resilience
In the wake of January’s devastating fires, our practice took on a new purpose. While we know that no design can ever replace what was lost, we believe architecture has the power to help people begin again. For many who lost their homes, this is a rare chance to re-imagine life from the ground up—to create a space that reflects not only their needs but their renewed hopes. Beyond the personal, we also see this as our responsibility to the city we call home. By contributing our skills to the larger rebuilding effort, we aim to support both individual healing and the collective resilience of our community.
“BSPK has been our advocate every step of the way—responsive, organized, patient, and committed.”
“What began as a simple sketch has grown into something far beyond what we imagined.”
“With Roman and Chris guiding us, we’re beginning to fall in love with the idea of our new home—rooted in memory, standing in the shadow of our old sycamore tree.”
“The loss of our home in the Palisades fire is still deeply painful, and speaking about it is difficult. Even so, we hope sharing our experience will inspire others to help rebuild our community.”
“BSPK’s initiative, steady guidance, and empathy have been a constant source of hope.”
“The upfront planning required for prefab has proven to be a gift, helping us think through every detail and avoid costly changes later.”
“Throughout the process, BSPK has provided the structure and support I needed most. Their communication is always clear, and they take the time to walk me through every step, never rushing or glossing over details.”
